Former Kenyan Judge Philip Ransely is set to be extradited to Kenya after he was accused of embezzling money in his law firm.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, in June, sent a letter to the United Kingdom informing them that Ransely should be extradited back to Kenya.
According to a foreigner touring the country, Ransely is likely to argue against the extradition since he is 86 years old and with prostate cancer.
Owing to his former judge status, he is also likely to argue that the court system will victimise him.
The foreigner further divulged that in July 2018, Ransely was arrested by the UK authorities but was later released on bail.
He was accused of embezzling money from clients in his law firm, Ransley McVicker Shaw Advocates, that he ran back in 2007 after leaving the Kenyan bench.
In 2016, the former judge was charged with theft of more than Ksh100 Million from Angela Scott and Ksh150 Million from Rowland Minns.
Rowland Minns, a real estate agency, had also sold Ransely’s Langata land, through his law firm, for Ksh260 Million back in 2014 but he had not remitted all the funds.
The company filed a lawsuit to recover Ksh155 Million from him.
His case is set for hearing on December 12 and 13.
