President Uhuru Kenyatta is among the most popular Kenyan’s on social media platform, Twitter, boasting over 3 million followers.
Garissa Township MP Aden Duale is among the 23 people that have the privilege of being followed by Uhuru.
Local politics is not prominent on Uhuru’s timeline because of the limited number of individuals on the list of those he follows.
The only Kenyans that feature on the list are Deputy President William Ruto, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to the United Kingdom Manoah Esipisu.
Most of the individuals that the president keeps tabs with are international personalities including presidents and businessmen.
The Africans that appear on his follow list are Presidents John Magufuli (Tanzania), Yoweri Museveni (Uganda), Muhammadu Buhari (Nigeria), Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Hage G. Geingob (Namibia) Ali Ondimba (Gabon), Alassane Ouattara (Ivory Coast) and Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa.
Other notable personalities are US President Donald Trump and President Barack Obama, UK Prime Minister Theresa May, and Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote.
Order was restored when the President reshuffled his communications team which had opened multiple accounts for his office.
His previous team was notorious for rogue communication strategies that led to contradictions, rookie mistakes and infighting.
All of them were deleted and the only one that survived the purge was his current personal account (@UKenyatta) and one belonging to the State House (@StateHouseKenya).
