Olive Mwea Wachira and Rawlings Odhiambo emerged the joint top pupils in 2018 KCPE score 453 marks.
But in a rare coincidence, the two top candidates also happened to tie in all their respective subject scores.
Mwea and Odhiambo scored 99% in Mathematics, 92% in English, 97% in Kiswahili, 81% in Science and 84% in Social Studies.
Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke, 13-year-old Mwea revealed that she intends to pursue a career in Pharmacy after her secondary school education.
"I did not believe it but the moment our headteacher confirmed it, I realised I was the top candidate. I thank my teachers, it is out of reading and God's blessings that this happened.
"I would love to join Kenya High, Kianda High or Brook House school," stated the joyous Olive who sat her exams at Riara Group of Schools in Nairobi.
Mwea indicated that she had hoped to score 433 marks terming the news of her exemplary performance as "unbelievable and exciting".
On the other hand, Odhiambo sat his KCPE exams at Kakamega Hills Academy.
Joseph Kamau, a teacher at Riara Group of Schools noted that the school's good performance was as a result of the good relationship between teachers and parents.
12,273 of the over one million 2018 KCPE candidates scored over 400 marks while 228,414 attained between 301 and 400 marks in what is a record enrollment in the past 10 years.
