There is a growing trend of women getting attracted to married men. This sheds some truth to a joke about how a lady can put off a guy, only to become interested when the same man focuses their attention on another lady.
While it used to feel as though these married men used to trick the unmarried women into the relationships, things seem to now be changing.
More unmarried women are apparently becoming attracted to married men, and intentionally seeking them out for seduction.
We set out to seek an explanation from different people as to why this is so and this is what we gathered:
1. They have experience
Married men are reported to have a lot of experience in dealing with women, having already proven so by the fact they have a life partner.
They are more mature and thus highly espouse virtues of patience and understanding; two things that women really seek in a partner.
Their experiences in life, at work, and in previous relationships have taught them a lot of life lessons to make their situation better than before.
2. Financial security
Many ladies are of the opinion that young men of their own age are yet to find their feet and would find it difficult to meet their outlandish demands to fund their lavish lifestyles.
Sometimes, it is not about being a gold-digger or a social climber, it's all about practicality they say. When you start a family, for example, it is important that the man is able to provide and do so adequately.
A typical single guy in his late 20s will have fewer savings, less wealth, and fewer assets accumulated compared to what he'll become 20 years later when he is settled and married.
3. They are already prequalified
Some women are of the opinion that a married man is already pre-assessed by another woman who has deemed him good enough to be a life partner.
The narrative is that if she’s making her happy, he must be bringing something to the table. His attractiveness is further escalated if the wife happens to be beautiful.
When dating, very few people live up to their partner's fantasies of what we think they’ll be like, so why not try a person who already has shown that he is great.
4. They are responsible
Marriage comes with responsibilities. The married man has mouths to feed, bills to pay, decisions to make and many other responsibilities. As such, he is socialised to be responsible.
The older married men prove to be stable and reliable - likely to stick around when the going gets tough.
These are hugely attractive qualities to women who’ve been let down by flaky men who can’t even be relied on to turn up, let alone stand by them in a crisis.
Unlike many bachelors, a married man will not show up at your doorstep empty-handed but will be thoughtful enough to bring along some shopping and wine.
5. They are a thrill
Sneaking around has its thrills. The sex itself may be lustier because it’s clandestine. A sexual encounter on the married couple’s bed, for example, becomes a daring thrill, full of lust and passion, in a way not possible otherwise.
Interactions with married men need to be secretive and undiscovered. Therefore, grabbing quick sexual encounters on the fly can be a huge turn-on in comparison to a dinner date with a single man who calls on Wednesday night to confirm Friday plans.
Especially for rule-breakers, the very fact that bedding a married man is frowned upon could trigger their hormones into a raging rush like a waterfall.
6. They are good in bed
While married women are out there complaining about their men’s lack of stamina in bedroom affairs, the single ones are striving to bed him for the exact opposite reason.
A married man is seen to have been there, done that and gradually been given a stamp of approval.
7. Women like competition
Women are naturally competitive hence when some ladies see their counterparts with a man, it ignites the need to take the man for themselves.
There are times when a woman will date a married man just to prove to the other woman that “I can take him.”
The fact that a man who has another woman pursues her is exciting and makes her feel like a winner in a non-existent battle because the wife probably doesn't even know that the other woman exists.
8. No strings attached
A lady dating a married man knows that if he’s cheating with her, honesty and trust can’t be topping the list of reason for being with him.
His availability is also limited since he has a family to spend time with, so one would wonder why the ladies like them. Some unmarried ladies like their married counterparts because they will not demand to be a part of the lady's life on a full-time basis.
9. They can be mentors
As a result of having a lot of experience, ladies love going to them for advice on life.
It’s quite common for the husband or male partner of a lady’s friend to become the person who deciphers all the confusing male behaviour the single lady struggles with.
As the interactions increase, the single one is likely to find herself being attracted to her friend’s' partner.
This is because he not only sheds light on what’s going on in the murky male psyche, he invariably presents himself as one of the nice guys who would never behave like the young unmarried men.
10.Independence
For some single women, a relationship with a man who is married gives them breathing room. The lady is not accountable to him if she wants to see a male friend or past lover.
