Kuria East MP Gifts 100 Reformed Criminals After Surrendering Guns

Kuria East MP Marwa Kitamanya has gifted 100 reformed criminals with Bodabodas after they surrendered their guns.

According to the MP, the move is expected to enhance security thus boosting economic growth in the constituency.

“Stability and economic growth highly depend on security, that is why we have taken up the initiative,” Kitamanya explained.

The youth had surrendered their guns during the government disarmament projects that happened six months ago in the region.

Before their surrender, they used the firearms to rustle cattle and fuel conflicts with neighbouring communities.

The MP hopes that through the bodaboda project, the youth will be economically empowered thus staying out of trouble.

Kitamanya urged the remaining youth, who are still holding on to their guns, to do so promptly.

Insecurity has been an issue of major concern within the region.

Just months ago, a gang of five reportedly assaulted three people slashing them with pangas and machetes.

One person was killed in the incident. The boda boda project was facilitated through the constituency’s CDF Project.
