President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday heaped praise on the hard-working, virtuous and honest citizens in the society.
Speaking during the National Anti-Corruption Conference held at the Bomas of Kenya, the president urged Kenyans to live honest lives that their children would emulate.
For instance, he recognized the Kenya Women Golfers team which was funded with Ksh2.5 million to go abroad for a competition and brought back a cheque of Ksh500,000 of money not spent.
He also mentioned other honest Kenyans including Daniel Mwaura, a conductor of the Gachie matatu route who did an unimaginable thing by returning a customer’s wallet with Ksh30, 000 intact.
More so, he acknowledged public officers who undertook their duties with commitment.
In 2018, Administration Police Constable, Joash Ombati, apprehended two conmen, Sameer Abdulaziz Kassim and Peter Kavoi Musili in Westlands, after they threw a man out of a moving vehicle.
Ombati reacted swiftly by deciding to pursue the two using a taxi and managed to intercept them at the junction in the area.
He fired eight rounds of ammunition without injuring anyone and managed to recover Ksh 400,000 from a reported payout.
Meanwhile, Uhuru reassured Kenyans that he was committed to winning the war against corruption.
"Corruption has no stigma nor social consequence… This state of affairs is what we must address. Stolen funds from Kenya are no longer beyond the reach of the Kenyan government," he addressed.
"The fight against this monster requires all of us to work together with one common accord. All arms of government must work together to eliminate this vice," the president proclaimed.
