Violent Patient Kills One, Injuring 6 Others In Nanyuki

An inpatient ward at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital got chaotic after one patient got violent, killing another patient in the incident.

According to reports, the 48-year -old patient only Identified as Paul was being treated for epilepsy.

It is alleged that Paul suddenly got violent and started attacking other patients and members of staff.

Rony Mutuma who was being treated for diabetes succumbed to the incident after the violent patient hit him with a blunt object.

Laikipia County Health Secretary Joseph Lenai, confirming the incident, reported that six patients and two nurses sustained injuries during the incident.

“He developed certain violent behavior and attacked members of staff on duty and other patients, ”Lenai reported.

“Six patients and two nurses sustained injuries, unfortunately, a male patient has succumbed to injuries,” he continued.

Mutuma’s body was transferred to the institution’s morgue.

The reason for John's sudden violent behavior has not been identified yet, however, doctors suggest that it could have been fuelled by an epileptic attack.

The incident has since been taken up by the Police.
