Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has proposed a 27-member committee to oversee Interior CS Fred Matiang'i's new role.
Writing to Parliamentary Speaker Justin Muturi over the matter, Kuria explained that the committee would support the realisation of the Executive Order which was made by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to The Star, the MP further proposed that he should be picked to chair the committee that will also contain Majority Leader Aden Duale and Minority Leader John Mbadi.
In the letter dated February 4, the legislator wants the new committee to be called the Parliamentary Development Coordination Committee.
"From the foregoing, it is imperative that Parliament plays its role in supporting the Executive Order and the realisation of the Big Four Agenda.
"The establishment of this committee will go a long way in creating collaborative mechanisms between the Executive and Legislative for a faster realisation of our national development agenda in general and the Big Four in particular," stated Kuria.
Matiang'i was appointed as the chair of the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee tasked with supervising the delivery of all government projects and allocation of resources.
He is deputised by Treasury CS Henry Rotich and greenlighted to report directly to the President.
Reporting to Matiang'i is a committee that comprises 14 Permanent Secretaries known as National Development Implementation Technical Committee.
