Nairobi Lawyer in Court for Stealing Ksh6M

Festum Murimi, an advocate of the High Court was arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts after he allegedly stole Ksh6 million from Sale Processing Safety Company.

According to The Standard, Murimi, who is also the co-director of the company did not take plea.

This is because Kibera Magistrate, Boas Ombewa, declined an application by the state to detain him for six days to allow further investigations.

The magistrate released Murimi on a bond of Ksh1 million with a surety of a similar amount. He added the State did not give enough reasons to detain the suspect.

The court further stated investigations could still go on even after the accused is released.

On February 15, 2019, Murimi reported he had been abducted at the Kileleshwa police station, where he alleged the abductors forced him to withdraw 60,000USD from a bank account in Sarit Centre.

However, CCTV footage shows the suspect withdrew the money and boarded a taxi that dropped him off at Kinoo.

Investigators were seeking more time to complete investigations and do forensic auditing by detaining the accused at the police station.

The case will be mentioned on Friday.
