4 Women Burnt in Arson Attack While Asleep in Narok town

Four women suffered serious burn injuries after their house was torched while they were asleep in Narok County.

Speaking from Cottage Hospital on Monday, where they are receiving treatment, the women indicated that petrol was poured under the door and ignited at 2am.

Winnie Chepkorir, claimed her boyfriend had threatened to harm her if she refused to go back to his place.

“I had been living with him for eight months but last week we differed and I fled his house at Suswa trading centre. He has been pursuing me but I told him that I will never get back to him, " Chepkorir stated.

"I suspect he could be behind the incident,” she added.

Chepkorir was in the house with Monica Nyambura (38), Diana Chepkemboi (32) and Nancy Chepkemboi (32) who were all rushed to hospital by their neighbours after the incident.

Nancy had invited Chepkorir to live with them after learning her boyfriend had threatened to revenge. They had also reported the matter at Suswa police station where a policeman advised Chepkorir to leave the town.

"The policeman we found told us there was nothing he could do and advised the best Chepkorir would do is flee. Unfortunately, the incident happened before she could leave," Nancy narrated.

Physicians at the hospital noted that the women had sustained 15 to 30 percent burns on their faces, hands and legs but were in a stable condition.

Narok North OCPD Joseph Kisombe stated police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who could face arson and attempted murder charges.
