CS Rashid Echesa Speaks on Intimate Friendship With Uhuru's Impersonator

Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has finally broken his silence over alleged friendship with one of President Uhuru Kenyatta's impersonator Joseph Waswa alias Henry Waswa.

The CS admitted that Waswa, who was charged alongside six others of defrauding businessman off Kshs 10 million using Uhuru's name and voice, was his personal friend but refuted claims that they were business partners.

“Waswa is a friend to many politicians, including myself but he is not a business partner.

“What is wrong with me being a friend to somebody? Does that mean I involve myself in everything he does? After all, Waswa is a friend to several high-ranking politicians in this country,” he told People Daily.

Echesa further accused his political rivals of driving propaganda against him to further their own personal vendetta vowing to take legal action.

“I will sue anyone who accuses me of money laundering,” he continued.

Waswa was also linked to an alleged Kshs 32 billion fake currency and fake gold which was nabbed at a house in Ruiru, Nairobi.

For impersonating Uhuru, Waswa has since been charged alongside six other suspects; William Simiyu, David Luganya, Gilbert Kirunja, Duncan Muchai, Isaac Wajekeche and Anthony Wafula

According to records, Waswa lived a lavish lifestyle including throwing a Kshs 5 million lavish wedding in December 2017 that involved choppers and a number of legislators were present.

He shocked Kitui County residents with his majestic arrival aboard a chopper during his trip to pay bride price while high end vehicles were on stand-by to whisk him away.
