Orengo Asks Uhuru to Order DP Ruto to Record Statement on Dams Scandal

Senate Minority Leader James Orengo has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to order DP William Ruto to disclose what he knows about the dams scandal.

Orengo made the remarks during a campaign rally in Ugenya constituency to drum up support for ODM candidate Chris Karan.

The Siaya Senator requested the president to compel Ruto to record a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Orengo urged President Kenyatta to ensure that anyone who had looted money from public coffers was punished, regardless of their positions in government.

"Uhuru, do not fear anybody; only fear God, the constitution, the law. So start with people at the top, not the ones down here,” he stated.

The Senior Counsel also encouraged Ruto to join Uhuru in the fight against corruption.

“Uhuru said he wants to speak on matters corruption, let Ruto follow his boss’ footsteps and do the same. If he hears corruption being mentioned, it is like poison for Ruto,” he added.

Orengo's sentiments comes in the wake of comments by the DP that the money in question was only Ksh 7 billion and every coin  had been accounted for.

"You have heard for example that the government has lost Sh21 billion in the Arror and Kimwarer dams which is a flat lie," he explianed.

Ruto's position contradicted that of Treasury CS Henry Rotich who had stated that taxpayers had lost Ksh 21 billion.
