Babu Owino to Meet Burial Costs of UoN Student Leader Samuel OCS Ragira

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has offered to meet the burial costs of Samuel Ragira, a former University of Nairobi (UoN) student leader who was killed on March 14.

Owino, who served as the Student Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) Chairman, condemned Ragira's murder after viewing his body at Chiromo mortuary on Saturday.

He also asked the police to protect the students against criminals who had invaded the institution.

Later on, the lawmaker went to Ragira's home and pledged to start a business for his widow.

Owino then headed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road to follow up on investigations.

“I met with senior DCI officials who assured me that they are on top of things and will soon bring those responsible to book. I assure all comrades that I will not tire until Ragira’s killers answer for their actions," he tweeted.

Ragira was killed on Thursday, March 14, at Klabu 36 market located opposite Nairobi Primary School.

Days before his life was snatched away, the deceased had condemned goons who were terrorizing traders at the market.

“It is unfortunate that Mungiki are terrorising Klabu 36 traders with pangas and guns taking advantage of the situation. They are demanding 10K from every trader to build a shack," he wrote.
