KCAA Officer Jumps from Air Traffic Control Tower at Moi Airport

An employee of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) died on Friday, March 22, after jumping from an airport traffic control tower.

In a statement, KCAA revealed that the unfortunate incident took place at the Moi International Airport.

The firm explained that the man worked as an Aerodrome Control Officer II, adding that the circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately clear.

KCAA further disclosed that the family of the deceased had been notified about the matter.

Staff will be provided with counseling to help them cope with the untimely loss.

The employee's body was taken to Aga Khan Hospital mortuary.

Investigations into the incident have already commenced. KCAA stated that it was working closely with relevant authorities to unravel circumstances leading to the employee's death.

This incident has revived the discussion on mental health at work as it comes barely six months after a senior manager at Price Water Coopers (PwC) died in a similar circumstance.

The man identified as Stephen Mumbo jumped from the 17th floor of Delta House in Westlands, Nairobi.

He was an Assistant Manager of Executory and Forensic Investigations at the international audit firm.
