How Mombasa Cop Rescued Woman From Two Rape Incidences

A Changamwe cop, Ruth Moraa, reportedly rescued a lady who had travelled to Mombasa seeking employment but ended up escaping two rape incidents.

Reports indicate that the young lady from Luanda, Western Kenya had been invited by a relative who was to help her secure a job.

Unfortunately, upon meeting with a man whom she had been referred to by the relative, the man demanded sex in exchange for the job.

The woman refused and fled the house.

She sought help from boda-boda operators nearby and one of them reportedly offered to shelter her for the night.

However, the man also turned on her and demanded sex, but she declined.

The woman was directed to Changamwe Police Station where she reported the incidences but failed to identify the men who wanted to molest her.

It is at the station that she met Moraa who hosted her and then assisted her to Tahmeed bus booking offices, where she paid for her fare back home.

According to Dan Charo who wrote to The Standard, the officer also gave the young woman some pocket money.

Charo praised Moraa for coming to the assistance of the woman and noted that the entire force shouldn't be painted with a single brush of condemnation, as is usually the case.
