Police Officer Loses Gun After Hiding It Under Pillow

A police officer, on Wednesday, lost his gun after he had immodestly hid it under a pillow case.

The Standard reported that the officer, who is attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Murang’a, lost the gun within the area's police line.

He hid the loaded Ceska pistol in order to visit the bathroom located next to his room at the police line.

He immediately reported the matter to Murang'a police station but the subsequent investigations did not recover the pistol.

It was, however, unclear if the officer locked the door on his way out.

Police probing the matter also revealed that they had extended the search outside the police line following the visitors who had visited at around the time the gun was reported missing.

“When he came from the bathroom, he could not trace the gun and moved around to checking who could have sneaked in his house in his absence,” the standard quoted a source.

Confirming the incident, Murang’a East DCIO Juliana Muthini revealed that investigations had been concluded and that they were waiting for further directions from their bosses.

“The file will be submitted to higher offices including director of public prosecution for advice as protocol demands,” he revealed.

In January this year, A police officer was suspended after losing a Ceska pistol that had been assigned to him.

The officer, who was identified as Charles Nyakeya, reportedly lost the pistol after forgetting on top of the cistern while relieving himself.
