Unknown people raided the home of Migori County ODM Party Chairman Philip Makabong'o on Saturday night and torched two vehicles.
Citizen TV reports that the two cars, a Toyota Sprinter and a Subaru, were burnt inside his compound.
The party official and his family were asleep at the time of the incident.
The attack was confirmed by Rongo sub-county Police Commander Peter Kirui who revealed that Makabongo was awakened by a loud bang.
When he went outside his house, he found his two vehicles on fire.
He sought help from neighbours in extinguishing the fire but it was too late since the fire had consumed a larger part of the vehicles.
''He mobilized people to put off the fire and immediately reported the incident to the police. The motive of the attack is yet to be established,” Kirui explained.
On January 6, Makabong'o's son was seriously injured during a fight over a 1.4-acre piece of land at Kitere area in Rongo Constituency.
Citizen TV reports that Patrick Makabongo was cut with a machete after a fight ensued between him and the son of the area assistant chief Mr. Joseph Nyamanga.
