Alfred Mutua Vows to Floor DP William Ruto in 2022 General Elections

Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua on Wednesday vowed to floor Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 presidential election.

Speaking on Jeff Koinange Live, Mutua expressed confidence at clinching the country’s top seat in the next General Election.

“… if you see me on the ballot in 2022, which I plan to be; It will mean that I will win, I don’t go into things blindly,” he commented.

He added that the alleged plot by a section of Opposition leaders to table a motion for the impeachment of the Deputy President was ill-advised.

“I don’t agree with the whole idea of impeaching William Ruto; first of all, I don’t think it could succeed because we also don’t want to destabilize the country,” Mutua stated.

Furthermore, he declared that he wanted to beat Ruto for the Presidency on fairgrounds.

Mutua also revived talks about his plans to construct a Formula One circuit in the county, which Kenyans have in the past lashed at him for not accomplishing any aspect of it.

“My dream was curtailed but it was not stopped. We are building interesting things and construction is going on as we speak,” he told Jeff Koinange.

In 2013, Mutua tweeted about his future plans for Machakos town, sharing an image of the plan.

Mutua further rubbished claims that his purported alliance with Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu and their Makueni counterpart Kivutha Kibwana was aimed at weakening Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s foothold in Ukambani.

“This (alliance) is for the economic development of our people, whether that goes against somebody else is neither here nor there,” he said.
