A team of KDF soldiers reportedly stormed Lang'ata Police Station in a dramatic attempt to rescue a colleague who had been arrested.
A police report seen by Kenyans.co.ke indicates that the incident happened 7:45pm on Tuesday evening.
The police officers were allegedly attending a non-injury traffic accident along Kitengela road when one man confronted and wrestled one officer to the ground.
"The assailant claimed that the police officers were blocking the road," the report reads in part.
According to the OB record, the two officers called for reinforcement which responded and they consequently managed to contain the man.
"He was later identified as Juma Ali Juma. He was then escorted to the station for assaulting the officer while on duty," the statement continues.
Drama ensued later when about five of his colleagues stormed the station to rescue their colleague.
"Reportedly a commotion ensued where the report desk personnel was felled by one of the rescuers," the police recorded.
When another officer came to the rescue of the female colleague manning the report desk, he was reportedly roughed up and eventually overwhelmed sustaining an injury on the arm.
"The station was called to alarm and officers who responded fired in the air. No one was shot in the incident," the police report concluded.
Nairobi Regional Commander Philip Ndolo confirmed to Capital FM News that the arrested soldier had assaulted a traffic officer along Kitengela Road before he was arrested and detained.
“The soldiers most probably had been drinking and they did not appreciate what our officers were trying to do. As a result, there was a scuffle, but we handed them over to the military which will deal with them in their own way,” Ndolo was quoted.
