DCI detectives from Kasarani Police Station on Thursday arrested 34 illegal immigrants for allegedly peddling drugs in the area.
The 33 Nigerians and 1 Eritrean were posing as students from the nearby United States International University (USIU) and Kenyatta University (KU).
Kasarani DCIO Mwenda Meme revealed that the foreigners had set up businesses near the universities with the intent to distribute the drugs.
The proprietor of a popular night club behind the Thika Road Mall (TRM) was also arrested on the allegation that he was aiding the immigrants.
Detectives also stated that the immigrants had been terrorising residents as they were linked to a spate of robberies in the area.
Citizen Digital reported that the raid followed a shake-up at the police station with the former leadership accused of being in bed with the criminals.
This, according to the DCIO, is what gave criminals in the area a field day.
On March 10, a suspected Nigerian drug lord, who had been deported in 2018, was arrested and deported again after making a mysterious return to the country.
In August 2018, 19 Nigerians had been apprehended in Umoja, Kasarani and Roysambu estates in Nairobi for conning Kenyans through scams on Facebook and other social media sites.
Two of the 19 were accused of opening a pseudo account for the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and using it to con unsuspecting Kenyans.
