DP Ruto's Emotional Message After Missing Ivy Wangechi's Funeral

Deputy President William Ruto, on Thursday, sent his condolences message after he failed to attend Ivy Wangechi's funeral in Nyeri county.

Speaking at AIPCA Church in Tetu while attending the Holy week service, the DP condoled with the family and friends of the slain Moi University student.

"I was not able to attend the funeral where the other leaders have been and I'd like to send my condolences to the family and friends of Ivy," he stated.

He noted that it was the responsibility of the society to guide young Kenyans to deal with issues without resorting to violence.

"We should also as parents know that it is our responsibility to guide our children even those who are in University.

"We should know that our country, even if we have problems, we have to talk with our children to ensure they can sustain themselves in a healthy manner so that we can avoid the deaths we are hearing right now," he added.

He further urged the church to pray for the current generation, "so that our young men and women can be measured in what they do and they can be safe and protected from all the evil designs."

Echoing his sentiments was Sports CS Amina Mohamed, who in a tweet, sent her condolences to Wangechi referring her with the title Doctor.

"My deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Dr Ivy Wangechi, a life taken too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you all as we lay her to rest today. Let us continue calling out violence against women," she wrote.
