Uhuru Kenyatta Helps Museveni Track Stolen Toyota Kluger in Gilgil

President Uhuru Kenyatta helped his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni trace his stolen car in Gilgil, The Star reports.

According to the publication, the president had been piling pressure on police chiefs to find the dark blue Toyota Kluger which was reported missing five months ago.

Museveni had sought Uhuru's help in tracing the car. However, it was not immediately clear whether it is a personal car or part of the presidential convoy.

A source at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) told The Star that they have been looking for the car since December 2018.

"Since December, we have been tracing this vehicle but our efforts failed because the registration numbers have been changed. We were under a lot of pressure,”  the DCI officer stated.

The car was finally impounded on Thursday night at the Gilgil weighbridge.

Two men who were in the car when it was seized escaped on foot and are being pursued by the police.

Flying Squad officers had been trailing the car from Murang'a where it had been spotted earlier in the week.

An operation to recover the vehicle was launched immediately.

The car had already been fitted with fake number plates SSD598M to show that it was registered in South Sudan.

It was towed to the Nairobi Flying Squad offices where experts will analyze the chassis and engine numbers.
