2 Burnt to Death in Accident Near Juja City Mall on Thika Road

Two people, a man, and a woman lost their lives early Monday morning in a fatal road accident on the Thika Superhighway.

Reports by the Nation indicate that the occupants, a male driver, and a female passenger, were traveling from Nairobi towards Thika when they met their deaths.

The two occupants were reportedly burnt beyond recognition after their car burst into flames upon hitting a trailer.

The driver reportedly lost control of the car, which veered off the road and started burning near Juja City Mall.

Their bodies were taken to General Kago Mortuary at Thika Level Five Hospital.

Juja Police Commander Dorothy Migarusha confirmed the accident.

Elsewhere on Sunday night, two people died following a crash on Meru-Nairobi highway near Kajiunduthi Secondary in Chogoria, Tharaka-Nithi County.

Two others were critically injured and were admitted to Chogoria PCEA Hospital.

This comes even as police and the National Transport and Safety Authority continue to conduct inspections and media campaigns to reduce road carnage.

Police reports indicate that about 100 people have lost their lives during the last three Easter holidays, caused by speeding and use of unroadworthy vehicles.
