Jonathan Toroitich's Troubled Life After Falling Out With Mzee Moi

Jonathan Toroitich led a troubled life after falling out with his father former President Daniel Moi, Nation reports.

According to the publication, Jonathan, who was known to his friends as JT, remained close to his mother, Lena Moi, after the former president divorced her in 1974.

He put up his home near his mother's residence in Kabimoi. However, his siblings stayed close to their father and rarely saw their mother.

Jonathan enjoyed a very cordial relationship with mother, Lena. Family sources revealed that his closeness to his mother drove a wedge between him, his father and other siblings.

Nation further disclosed that he was unhappy that his father appeared to favour his youngest brother, Gideon Moi.

Jonathan's bad blood with Gideon played out in public in 2004 during a meeting that had been convened to plan their mother's funeral.

A source who attended the meeting told Nation that Gideon tried to address the audience as the family spokesperson before Jonathan shot him down.

"Simply because transferred most of his properties to you doesn't entitle you to become our spokesman," Jonathan stated as revealed by the source.

Perhaps this explains why Jonathan lived an ordinary life despite having a billionaire father who served as the president of Kenya for 23 years.
