Governor Ferdinand Waititu's Chief of Staff Resigns

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been dealt another blow after his own chief of staff abandoned him at the hour of need.

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke, a source aware of the matter confirmed that Gibson Mburu resigned from his role on Monday.

This comes at a time when the troubled governor is entangled in a dispute with Auditor General Edward Ouko over suspicious expenditures in the 2017/18 county budget.

Mburu reportedly resigned because of the budget controversy that involved costs for coordination of State House functions, as well as, millions that were allegedly spent on a peace mission in South Sudan.

It was, however, not clear where Mburu was headed to next.

On Thursday, May 2, Waititu baffled County Public Accounts and Investment Committee with the ridiculous allocations.

The governor was unable to answer questions that arose from the documents from 2017/18 financial year that he presented himself.

The report showed that Kiambu County had allocated Ksh180 million for the administration of benefits to retired presidents.

Ksh973 million was also documented to have been used in the coordination of State House functions and Ksh800 million for free primary education.

The report added that Ksh591 million was used on State Corporations Advisory Committee and Ksh58 million to support South Sudan's peace process.

Shortly after the revelations, State House, through Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita, distanced itself from the ludicrous payments revealing that it doesn't share any budgets with Kiambu county.
