Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko continues to grow his influence across county borders through his generosity.

In his latest undertaking, the flamboyant governor known for having a taste for expensive things was widely praised for dishing out money in Migori county which is headed by Governor Okoth Obado.

Sonko visited the county on Friday to attend a fundraiser in aid of the construction of classrooms at Radienya Girls Secondary School in Suna East.

"Education is always the pillar to success and we must strive to ensure that our children get quality education," he stated.

At the event, Sonko raised more than Ksh1.5 million whose Ksh 350,000 was awarded to the locals as a token of  appreciation.

"Tumekuja kusimama na kujenga shule. Na wale vijana wametungoja kutoka asubuhi, watu ya boda boda na zile group zote za vijana...napeana Ksh 350,000 kuhakikisha kuwa wamenunua nyama choma kwa nyumba zao," continued Sonko.

(We have come here to build a school. All those youth who waited for us since morning, people from boda boda and other youth groups. I have given out Ksh 350,000 to make sure you buy grilled meat in your houses.)

This comes roughly a week after the governor dished out cheques worth Ksh600,000 to some 48 Nairobi tenants.

The move was aimed at helping them move from their current homes which are listed for upgrading.
