Watch Janet Mbugua Anchor on Citizen TV Again

Renowned media personality Janet Mbugua was on Friday morning back at her former workplace as part of a panel to discuss the negative effects smartphones have caused.

At the end of the discussion, the hosts, Trevor Ombija and Waihiga Mwaura, challenged her to read a news item and take them to the break.

Although she was caught by surprise, Janet proved that her anchoring skills had not faded since she left the station.

"Studies show that people check their phones 150 times daily. A global State of Digital Report 2019 shows that 1 in 4 people spend seven hours on their phones daily.

"The scariest part about smartphone addiction is that it can affect our physical and mental health, our relationships and productivity," Janet stated.

"Use our social media handle to delve into the discussion at Citizen TV Kenya, I don't know if it is still working," she joked to show how long it had been since her exit.

She received applause from Trevor who commented, "Awesome, you still haven't lost it."

During the show, Janet disclosed that she often takes time off social media to handle her other obligations.

"I have learned to keep off the internet so I can concentrate on other aspects of my life. I take that time off social media as ‘leave’," she stated.

The renowned media personality also commented on the Huduma Namba mass registration that comes to a close on Saturday, May 25, noting, "My deepest frustration is that the process was time-bound."

"What happens to those in hospitals? People still do not understand what is supposed to happen next after the registration process," Janet noted.
