There are various ways of celebrating a loved one's birthday but with COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli, the celebration was taken a notch higher with the release of a Rhumba-themed song.
In the song titled, "Atwoli Birthday 6.6" released on June 5, 2019 by Evala Mbuta and Koko Nyboma, Atwoli is seen celebrating his big day as he turned 70 surrounded by colleagues, including his wife and KTN presenter Mary Kilobi.
At the party, a champagne bottle was popped while the man of the moment cut the cake bearing his image, fed a few attendees before rising up to the dance floor.
The beat of the song is quite infectious with a catchy English chorus, "Happy Birthday to you Francis."
"SG Francis Atwoli Mheshimiwa, Wafanyikazi mko, tupige nduru (SG honourable Francis Atwoli. Workers are you there, we send shoutouts)," adlibs one of the singers.
So good and professional was the tune that COTU shared it on its social media platforms.
On Thursday, June 6, the outspoken leader was surprised with a birthday cake while in his Nakuru office by his colleagues and wife, Kilobi, as he marked his birthday.
Among those who surprised him were the staff of Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Women Workers Union (KPAWU).
His wife also took to Instagram to share her joy with Atwoli as she shared a picture of the two sharing a cake.
“May the Almighty God continue to bless you, keep you strong, healthy and happy. May He watch over you for us! Unapendwa ajabu (You are loved so much). Happy birthday Mr. Amazing!” Kilobi’s text read, accompanied by love emojis.
