Governor Emotionally Narrates How His Mother Almost Died When Delivering Him

In a tribute to his late mother at the All Saints Cathedral on Monday, Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o narrated of how he was born, citing that he almost killed his mother during birth.

The governor highlighted that he was the fourth born in the family and that all siblings had been delivered from the Maseno Mission Hospital, which was not too far from their home.

However, it was a little different for him when time for his birth neared as he did not wait to be taken to the hospital.

"Coming into this world in a hurry I almost killed my mother!" he noted.

He narrated that his mother did not have time to prepare to go to the hospital as he was in a hurry to come to this world.

"An old grandma had to be called to deliver me in the middle of the night at home; but she didn’t do a very good job, leaving mum in excruciating pain after what the grandma had sworn was a safe delivery," he revealed.

He continued citing that the mid-wife forgot to remove her mother's placenta.

"Mama and I were eventually rescued when a nurse friend of hers was called to step in and ensure both the baby and the placenta were safely out of the womb," he stated.

The governor's mother, Dorcas Owino Nyong'o died on May 28, 2019, being 98 years old.
