Sonko’s Emotional Message to Adopted Son on His 18th Birthday

Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Saturday poured his heart out in a message to his adopted son Gift Osinya as he turned 18 years old.

Taking to social media, the county boss reiterated that his commitment to serve the poor was genuine and dismissed naysayers accusing him of pulling media stunts to woo the public.

“Serving the poor is serving the living God and this is where blessings come from but there are a few dirty minded people who politicise this saying its PR which will not stop me from wishing a happy belated 18th birthday to our adopted Son Gift Osinya.

“5 years ago he rescued his younger brother Satrin Osinya from a hail of al-Shabab militants bullets who had opened fire in a church killing their mother instantly. The Devil is a liar as he thought that would be the end of their life as their late mother was the soul breadwinner of their family.

“Today the two are part and parcel of our blessed family and they've been a big blessing to us. Happy birthday, Gift may you live to blow another 1001 candles. We love you so much,” Sonko’s post on his Facebook page read.

On March 23rd 2014, Baby Satrine Osinya hit the headlines following a terrorist attack at the Joy in Jesus International Ministry church in Likoni, Mombasa.

The attack killed 3 worshippers among them Satrine’s mother Veronica Osinya who died while shielding her son from the flying bullets.

The bullet that killed his mother was left lodged in Satrine’s head and a picture of his brother Gift holding his bloodied brother Satrine gripped the hearts of many Kenyans.

After a five-hour operation at the Kenyatta National Hospital, the bullet was successfully removed from Osinya’s brain and he was later adopted by Sonko.

Earlier on in May, the flamboyant governor threw Baby Satrin a lavish kids’ party that was attended by family and friends to celebrate his seventh birthday.

Gift is now a student at Lenana School while his brother attends Saint Mary’s school.
