KCSE Top Candidate Found Dead In The US

Kenyan undergraduate student at the prestigious Stanford University in California, USA was on Friday found dead in her campus residence.

Norah Chelagat Borus, who emerged the top girl in 2013 KCSE, was found dead with the cause of her death declared a mystery by the University.

The news of the demise of the Kenyan student who went to Precious Blood Riruta for her high school education has both shocked and saddened many who knew her.

Norah is reported to have been found dead in the middle of Stanford University’s commencement weekend.

According to Mercury News by Washington post, the University officials stated that the cause of death has not been officially released but police reports indicate that there is no ongoing safety threat to the campus community.

In a campus-wide email, the Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Susie Brubaker-Cole declared that “we have been in touch with the student’s family this afternoon. While we are working to understand the family’s wishes, we are not in a position to share the identity of the student. We also will be reaching out to friends and colleagues of the student to offer support and care, now and over time.”

The death is reported to be the fourth Stanford student death since last February and University officials also encouraged students to reach out to counselors.

“I wanted to share the news as soon as possible, recognizing that there is clearly a need for greater conversation. We will share more information as soon as it is available.” announced the saddened Susie.

In another campus-wide email, university president Marc Tessier-Lavigne and Provost Persis Drell confirmed the death and added that a “deep, sustained conversation is needed about how the university can best provide the resources and necessary support for the physical, mental and emotional well being of all members of our campus community.”

Due to the rise in the number of students who’ve passed away, the University believes that it is important to acknowledge Norah’s death in their community, and several others that have occurred in the course of the year, before the weekend’s ceremonies and graduates’ departure from campus.

Norah’s friends took to social media expressing their condolences to Norah’s family with most stating how saddened they were by the demise of Norah.

Joshua Kiprop a facebook user stated "The student who was the best girl in Nairobi County was found dead at a campus residence in STANFORD UNIVERSITY. Deepest and sincere condolences to the family of Dr Peter and Dr Dinah."
