Raila’s Cousin Teased On Live TV for Being A Professional Mourner

Former Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo was on Tuesday teased by other legislators in a morning show during a newspaper analysis session on NTV.

The legislators were analyzing a section of People Daily that talked about Kisumu county’s new law to tame professional mourners from mourning in the City’s Central Business District(CBD), schools and hospitals.

While on air, the panel that comprised of the Former Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale, Kiambu Senator Kimani wa Matangi, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, former Kimilili MP Dr. Eseli Simuyu and Midiwo. The rest of the panel constantly trolled the former legislator due to his past dramatic instances of crying in public.

“Jakoyo should explain to us, before being elected to parliament and from the tendencies we have seen, whether he ever participated or was an ex-wailer?” joked Wa Matangi.

“Even as an MP, don’t you remember Jakoyo once wept at a funeral claiming that somebody wanted to kill Jakom?” cued in Cheruiyot amid laughter.

According to Khalwale, the mourners pay-rates are determined by their activities during the mourning procession.

“It depends on what you are going to do. If you wail, you are paid a fee. If you wail and roll down, you are paid more and then if you wail, roll down and run to the banana plantation, you get even more. Ksh 2,000 per day is good money” disclosed the former senator hysterically laughing.

In a new law, professional mourners found wailing in certain areas will be instantly charged Ksh 2,000. Kisumu city director of environment Bernard Ojwang stated that enforcement officers will detain hearses ferrying bodies within the town and the deceased’s family will be fined Ksh 20,000 instantly.

“Mourn in town at your own risk because our officers are alert and will arrest and charge those disturbing others in the name of mourning,” threated Ojwang.
