Ruto Allied Women Leaders Form New Outfit

Women leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have formed a new outfit dubbed ‘Inua Mama’ in a bid to support the DP’s 2022 presidential bid.

The team will be crisscrossing the country conducting fundraisers to help women form Saccos while popularising the DP.

Inua Mama is chaired by Kandara MP Alice Wahome and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika. The fiery Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa is part of the technical team as reported by Nation.

Kihika and Wahome, perceived to be die-hard supporters of the DP, are harsh critics of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The outfit is said to have DP Ruto’s blessings and has 48 elected women leaders teamed up to fight against Team Embrace, which supports President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga.

Racheal Shebesh, who is the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry for Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, spearheads Team Embrace, alongside Gender Commission member Priscilla Nyokabi.

The team also comprises Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Wanjiru Chege.

“Nyokabi and Shebesh have been organising the Team Embrace which is involved in politics and they can’t do so using the Gender and Equality Commission and the Ministry of Public Service and Gender because the two departments call for equality for all women and not a faction,” Wahome stated.

Inua Mama alleges to have been angered by how Team Embrace does not respect DP Ruto and raised doubts over their mission for peace, stating that they should not need to hide under the peace umbrella because the country is not at war.

According to Wahome, Inua Mama agenda is to fight for economic empowerment of women at the grassroots.

They will do so by offering them a platform and partnering with the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (Kewopa) so as to enable them to seek elective positions in the future.
