K24 TV's Isabella Kituri Gets Labour Scare on Live TV

Seasoned K24 Swahili presenter Isabella Kituri, on Thursday, took the audience by surprise after she experienced a labour scare right in the middle of presenting news.

The incident happened during the 7pm news forcing her co-anchor Franklin Wambugu to abruptly call for a short commercial break.

Isabella later took to social media to explain to her followers that what she experienced were false contractions known as Braxton Hicks, while complimenting her co-host at the same time for keeping it level headed during the false scare.

“Nkt!This crazy guy called Braxton Hicks… visits pregger mums as a falsified labour agent… Franklin Wambugu was ready to wheelbarrow me out of the studio,” she posted.

The moment seemed reminiscent of the time in 2015, when former Citizen TV News anchor Janet Mbugua pranked her co-host Hussein Mohamed by pretending to be in labour during their Monday Special show.

Braxton Hicks contractions (named after the doctor who first identified them) are not actual labor contractions, but they are caused by the muscles of the uterus tightening, just as real labor contractions are.

Braxton Hicks contractions usually start in the third trimester, although they can be noticed in the second trimester as well.

The mother of one, lost her husband to colon cancer at age 25 in 2005, just one year after they got married.

She later revealed that she had a hard time coming to terms with the loss, but her pastor counseled her and convinced her to move on.Though it took a while, she eventually did.

Early this year, the TV girl, who is a staunch Manchester United fan, unveiled her baby bump and Kenyans couldn't help but be impressed at how well she was glowing and carrying her pregnancy.
