DP Ruto Allies Demand Tuju’s Resignation

Deputy President William Ruto’s allies in Jubilee are mounting significant pressure on the party’s Secretary General Raphael Tuju to resign, in a new twist that unfolded within the existing party drama.

Tuju is being targeted as a scapegoat over claims that he is tearing Jubilee apart by undermining the DP.

Speaking at the Kitale ASK Showground, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, was leading the charge against Tuju, with Jubilee MP Alice Wahome (Kandara) and Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru backing her up.

The lawmakers blamed Tuju for the continued wrangles within the party, saying he should leave.

"Tuju is responsible for the confusions in the party. He is out to finish Jubilee Party and we are not going to allow it," Kihika fiercely threatened.

The Standard reports that, according to the Nakuru Senator, sacrificing Tuju will be the only way to salvage the party from spliting as she blamed Tuju for working with external forces to ignite a fire within the party.

"He has betrayed a government we founded. There is a lot of confusion and division in Jubilee and the person responsible is Tuju. Let him resign," Wahome rallied.

Catherine Waruguru downplayed the alleged rift between the President and his deputy, inclining on a perspective that party officials are fanning division for political mileage.

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Nangabo while spelling out their unequivocal support for DP warned those working to block his Uhuru succession bid in 2022.

"The dark forces working against Ruto will fail. We will rally behind him and ensure he ascends to power," Jumwa declared.
