Notorious Man Drugging Passengers With Laced Snacks Nabbed

The security crew at Easy Coach bus company apprehended one of the most wanted criminals over the weekend.

Known for lacing snacks such as biscuits and other confectionaries, the middle-aged man had been linked to numerous incidents on the Western-Rift Valley-Nyanza route.

Reports posted on the company's official Twitter page affirmed the arrest, adding that the culprit had been handed over to the police.

The suspect was nabbed while in possession of his dangerous tools of the trade which included a pack of biscuits as well as some yellow pills of unknown origin.

Known for lacing his biscuits with a variety of drugs, the unnamed suspect mostly targeted commuters stuck on the long journey from the capital towards western Kenya.

Easy Coach management maintained that despite the arrest of the suspect believed to be the ring leader, passengers were to avoid eating food and snacks from strangers.

Exactly a year ago a 55-year-old mass media lecturer, Duncan Oduor, fell victim to a biscuit peddler while plying the same route.

Set for a guest lecture at Rongo University, his journey was cut short after he was drugged to within an inch of his life before been dumped by the roadside somewhere in Migori.

Last year, the Kenya Bus Management Ltd issued an alert to its customers warning of new tricks being used by criminals to either steal or cause harm to passengers.

In a notice posted on its Twitter handle, the bus company shared a post by a concerned customer, one Lee Elly, who exposed how the criminals strategically placed syringes containing an unknown substance on the back edge of seats, which upon one sitting on injects it into his/her body resulting in a person becoming unconscious.

Once unconscious, the criminals then take advantage and have their way with the victim including taking him/her out of the vehicle pretending to be a relative or friend, then proceeding to either steal or sexually assault the victim.
