Ruto Sets 2 Tough Conditions Before Recording Statement on Assassination Plan

Deputy President William Ruto has set two conditions for the DCI before he records a statement over an alleged scheme to assassinate him.

A report by People Daily indicated that Ruto told the agency he would only have his statement taken when all the people who are linked to the alleged plot to kill him have been taken in for questioning.

The publication also reported that the DP has asked the DCI to retrieve CCTV footage from La Mada Hotel where the plot to eliminate him was allegedly being hatched.

It was alleged that ICT CS Joe Mucheru, his Health counterpart Sicily Kariuki, Trade & Industrialization CS Peter Munya and other leaders from Mt. Kenya met at the establishment on diverse dates.

The three CSs presented themselves to the DCI on Monday after Ruto reportedly filed a complaint over the phone.

Speaking to journalists at the DCI offices along Kiambu Road, Munya rubbished the claims and termed them as wild and unsubstantiated.

He also revealed that they could not record a statement because there was no written allegation they could respond to.

"We went out of our way, we wanted to write those statements but it became apparent that there is no written complaint.

'All they have is a purported letter that has been circulating on social media and we told them that we could not respond to that kind of a latter," Munya explained.
