Moses Kuria Teargassed During Protest for Jaguar's Release [VIDEO]

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was, on Wednesday, teargassed after getting caught up in demonstrations for the release of Starehe MP Charles Njagua Kanyi, alias Jaguar.

A video that was shared by Daily Nation showed the controversial legislator wiping tears away from his eyes while addressing members of the press outside Nairobi Area Police Station.

Kuria stated that it was unfortunate that legislators were being teargassed because they had come to see their colleague.

"This thing of stopping us from seeing our colleague is unfortunate. Even touts are allowed to see their colleagues so why can't we be allowed to see him?" Kuria posed.

He went on to explain that people should be allowed to express themselves, adding that that the government was being misadvised.

The Gatundu South MP asserted that what Jaguar claimed was not different from what Interior CS Fred Matiang'i had been saying about foreigners who come to do business in Kenya.

"Why was Matiang'i not arrested yet he has been saying that the issue of people coming here and doing work that can be done by local people is not acceptable in any country. Trump has been on it.

"Even Tanzanians burnt our chicken just the other day. Was there anyone who was teargassed in Tanzania for burning our chicken? Why are we doing it here? Now we are here teargassing MPs. We are setting this country on a path that might be irreversible," stated Kuria.

Jaguar was arrested outside the parliament buildings on Wednesday following his remarks on foreigners working in Kenya that were termed as xenophobic.

The youthful legislator had threatened to gather a team of youth and round up all the foreigners operating in the city, beat them up then escort them to the airport for deportation.
