Sonko Slams Citizen TV's Exposé on Mbagathi Hospital

Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, on Friday slammed an exposé done by Citizen TV on the sorry state of Mbagathi hospital, Thursday evening.

The report revealed the dire situation at Mbagathi hospital where expectant mothers are forced to labour on benches and babies share incubators despite the health risks.

The story disclosed that the delivery room also serves as the operation room as it has two tables, one for women who will be delivering naturally and another for those undergoing the C-section.

On his Facebook page, the governor dismissed the report highlighting that the video wasn't a recent one.

"This video clip is not a recent one and I will prove it to you in my next upload. The story does not flow with the negative allegations by the reporter," Sonko noted.

He stated that the women seated on the benches were smiling and that the camera person was not showing the infants supposedly sharing incubators.

"They are saying the hospital has only six incubators which are not enough but they are not showing the infants who are in the incubators so that we know they are full," he posed.

The Nairobi county boss finalized his long post by claiming that the report was full of malice.

"The framed story was full of malice cause there's no patient or any patient's relative being interviewed to air their grievances," he concluded.
