Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has come to the aid of disabled South Sudanese refugee, Machar Atem Abuoi.
According to Sonko’s Communications Director and Media Chief Officer, Jacob Elkana, the county head was touched by Machar’s sorry condition after watching him on social media and offered to lend him a hand.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Elkana divulged that Sonko’s team would visit Machar and donate a wheelchair to him and offer other assistance.
Machar, who is currently a class 8 pupil at the Kakuma Refugee Camp is unable to stand or walk and crawls to school.
His plight has forced him to spend over 10 years in school since he usually misses school days when it is rains or gets too hot.
He always suffers blisters on his hands and knees.
In December 2018, the philanthropic Governor was named the Good Deeds Goodwill Ambassador in Kenya.
Sonko earned the ambassadorial position based on the charitable work he had undertaken over the years.
