ODM party leader, Raila Odinga, on Sunday, visited the county of Elgeyo Marakwet in what is part of his recently launched tour of the country.
Speaking at Chebara Primary School where he was the chief guest at a party held in honour of recently retired Ruth Kiptoo.
"Visited the people of Elgeyo Marakwet and was encouraged by their well thought out ideas on the way forward for all of us as a people, Raila commented via Twitter.
During his address, Raila was quick to reaffirm his recent narrative regarding large monetary contributions made out to churches by some leaders, adding that such suspicious contributions needed to be scrutinized.
Ruth was being celebrated for her 40 years of exemplary service in the field of teaching.
Interestingly, she is the mother-in-law to Cherangany Member of National Assembly, Joshua Kutuny.
Raila was accompanied by Siaya Senator, James Orengo and Mbita Member of Parliament (MP) Millie Odhiambo, Wilson Sossion, Joseph Kutuny and Gladys Wanga, Mombasa Governor, Hassan Joho and Elgeyo Marakwet Governor, Alex Tolgos among numerous other leaders.
The charismatic ODM party leader was quick to point out his admiration for the spirit of the people of Elgeyo-Marakwet.
His visit formed part of national tour kickstarted by himself and President Uhuru Kenyatta, with both leaders affirming that they would go around to spread the word on development and national cohesion.
The duo's tour has been touted by many as a move to cement their handshake deal and to assure the country that their past differences are well and truly behind them.
State House spokesperson, Kanze Dena, on June 25, 2019, announced that the President's tour itinerary was being prepared and that once done it would be shared with the masses.
