Why Ruto Must Leave Govt to Become President - Herman Manyora

Political analyst Professor Herman Manyora has advised Deputy President William Ruto to leave government as soon as possible if he wishes to become president.

The lecturer made the remarks on his weekly YouTube show Take it Or Leave It where he stated, "William Ruto is leaving government. What's more, is that he will also leave Jubilee.

"It is, therefore, a question of not if, and after very serious reflection, I have almost come to a conclusion that it is a question of when he will leave,” Manyora began.

According to him, the exit, nonetheless, must be well thought out and should be executed with the precision of an eagle to avoid serious repercussions.

Manyora asserted that Ruto should ditch the government sooner rather than later.

In his view, Manyora noted that if the DP remained in government until it got closer to the elections, his opponents would have watered his influence down.

‘When an onslaught is made on your people, when corruption cases get to prosecution level, when that time comes, and the president keeps his word that he is going to suspend if not sack cabinet secretaries and other officials once they are charged, when that times come, you will see the kind of cold that will begin to engulf you as your friends are locked up one after the other. In fact, those who remain with you will not be of much value,” Manyora retorted.

Manyora insisted that even though Ruto would lose the trappings of power, in the eyes of the electorate he would have shown courage to face his opponents in broad daylight.

Furthermore, as a result, he claimed that the DP would even recruit more supporters.

“Leave government and Jubilee you must. There are no two ways about it. In fact, leaving the government might be a way of saving your people.

"So you might have to save you lieutenants so that nobody would think of going after them thinking they have already finished you,” he concluded.
