Sonko Storms Mama Lucy Hospital, Demands to Watch as Doctors Work [VIDEO]

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, on early Wednesday morning, stormed Mama Lucy Hospital and demanded to watch as the doctors worked.

He made the move after numerous complaints reached his desk over lack of medicine at the hospital yet the facility received funding to stock.

Sonko was particularly touched by one case in which a patient's wound had not been dressed since his arrival at the hospital yet he (patient) had sought services at the facility the previous day.

Sonko, while confronting medics at the reception, demanded to watch as they did the dressing on the patient while threatening to sack some workers.

"Utafanyiwa dressing saa hii nikiwa hapa. Somebody today ataenda nyumbani. (Your wound must be dressed while I am here. Somebody must go home today)," declared Sonko.

In their defence, however, the medics, explained that the delay came about because they did not have enough resources.

The hospital reportedly did not have medicine for the last three days.

"I'm impressed with the improved delivery of healthcare services in our county's health facilities. This has led to an influx of patients in all the facilities," the governor later posted on his Facebook page. He accompanied it with a live video of his tour of the facility's chemist section.

In January this year, patients put the hospital on the spot decrying poor service and that they were being neglected.

They further lamented that they were not being treated on time and most cases escalated as a result of negligence.
