Why Eric Omondi Waited for 2 Years Before Performing at Churchill Show

Popular comedian, dubbed the president of comedy, Eric Omondi, emotionally narrated how he had to wait for two years to receive a phone call from fellow comedian, Daniel Ndambuki, alias Churchill, before performing at Churchill Live

Eric was speaking at a Churchill event in Naivasha on Thursday night, where he surprised Churchill by making a cameo appearance at the show, after seven years.

In 2006, while I was a second-year student at Daystar, I was an MC at an event which Churchill attended. He was impressed by my skills. I was to borrow his phone number later, however, he asked for mine. I waited for two years before he called me in 2008 to inquire if I was ready to perform,” Eric Omondi narrated.

Eric was revealing to the crowd how he met Churchill, who taught him how to perform and wow crowds.

I have never told this story to anyone anywhere whatsoever. People keep asking me how I met Churchill,” Eric stated as silence engulfed the cheerful crowd, who patiently waited for the bombshell to drop.

I used to MC at events and people would later tell me that I made them laugh. They kept on asking me to conduct other events. Then one day, when I learned that Churchill, who was prominent at that time, will attend an event in the school, I got excited.

I did not want to propose myself to MC the event. So I waited. However, luck was on my side as I went on to MC and I really did my best. I performed narratives and poems,” Eric revealed as the crowd cheered on, while Churchill happily stared at him.

The enchanted comedian then revealed that Churchill would single him out after the event, describing him to be a skinny MC.

Two years later, Churchill called him and inquired if he had been watching the shows live on NTV. He would go on to give him an assignment before allowing him to perform.

He asked me to watch 12 episodes of the show and to get ready to perform at the 13th episode. That was my breakthrough,” Eric disclosed.
