A church elder at Full Gospel Church in Kabarnet, Stanley Chebet, has come out with a stern ultimatum, following theft that took place at their church on Sunday.
Speaking to the Daily Nation, the elder expressed his shock at the fact that someone had actually broken into God's sanctuary and stolen offerings as well as electronics.
"I just want to join hands with the Bishop and a give a grace period for one week, that is my ultimatum for these culprits, after that, we will engage God," Chebet asserted.
He then went on to issue a stern warning to the perpetrators, adding that their fate was sealed the moment they decided to desecrate God's holy place.
"Thieves have lost morals until they have now gone to the altar. You know when they extend the stealing up to sanduku la sadaka, loosely translating to offering basket, that is going overboard," the church elder divulged.
Chebet was quick to point out the unknown burglars were bound to damnation, as their crime, since time immemorial, guaranteed an unhappy ending.
"Even in history and in the bible, those who have attempted (to steal from God) have never survived," he asserted.
In a similar incident, a thief who broke into PEFA church in Nyahururu ended up writing an emotional, yet funny confession letter to the congregants.
In the letter undersigned as 'letter from the person who broke the church', the culprit revealed that he had been tipped off on the large bounty of offerings available for stealing, by a member of the congregation.
"I was sent here by one of you who told me that there was an amount of money left inside the church but I got nothing," he divulged.
Reports indicated that the Baringo church robbers made away with a piano, power amplifiers, several cables, before going on to destroy one of the speakers and other church property valued to be worth well over Ksh 200,000.
The church Bishop, Daniel Chemon, reiterated his junior's sentiments while speaking on NTV.
