Ruto's Ally Hits Out at Kanze Dena Over Party Politics

Kericho Senator, Aaron Cheruiyot, on Wednesday, hit out at Statehouse Spokesperson, Kanze Dena over what he termed as 'interfering in Jubilee party affairs'.

Taking to his Facebook and Twitter accounts, the Jubilee legislator, who's closely associated with DP William Ruto, faulted the former Citizen TV anchor stating that it was not her place to talk on the party matters.

“Somebody advise her to keep off commenting on Jubilee issues. Her understanding therein is that of a nun on mosque issues,” he lashed out.

Cheruiyot's statement was in response to Kanze Dena after she addressed questions of Jubilee Secretary-General, Raphael Tuju commissioning development projects in Siaya County on behalf of President Uhuru Kenyatta - which was taken to mean that he was working with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

She stated that Tuju was at the function in an official capacity, representing the president.

“The meeting in Rarieda was a government function and Mr Tuju was there in his capacity as the presidential representative.

"The Cabinet Secretary had an official speech of the President and, therefore, it was not a private function but a development event by the government," she was quoted by The Nation.

In a tweet, on Sunday, DP William Ruto wondered how Jubilee party’s Secretary-General could work for the opposition.

“So our democracy is so liberal that the SG of the ruling party has become the chief strategist of the opposition! Maajabu (surprising),” the DP tweeted.

Responding to the DP's sentiments, Tuju sent out a statement to newsrooms conveying that he did not wish to engage the DP in a public spat.

"I refuse to be drawn into a public argument with the deputy president or engage him through the media because he is my boss.

“I am committed to supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s efforts to unite the country, through bold steps like the BBI, the handshake, the fight against corruption and the Big Four agenda," cited the CS without portfolio.
