CS Raphael Tuju Speaks on Running For Siaya Governorship in 2022

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju on Saturday dismissed reports that he is readying to run for the Siaya gubernatorial seat in 2022 general elections.

Speaking during the burial of his younger brother Kefa Oduor Tuju at Ralingo village, Rarieda, Tuju who also doubles as a CS without portfolio indicated that he is comfortable with his current political status.

"I want to assure all of you here that Tuju is not intending to be the governor of Siaya.

"I don’t have such dreams I will support whoever the people of Siaya elect," Tuju stated.

According to Tuju, if permitted to keep his position, he shall continue supporting the region in terms of development.

He nevertheless cautioned that bringing home some development projects shouldn’t be mistaken to be yearning for an elective position in the County.

His remarks came after Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe encouraged him to vie for the Siaya Governor’s seat.

"Don’t fear Orengo, he is a politician and not a technocrat. This county needs a manager.

"Let Orengo vie for the presidency. If Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta are not contesting, Siaya can also produce a candidate," Murathe stated.

On his part, ODM party chairman John Mbadi in a thinly-veiled address earlier on appeared to be rallying support for Siaya Senator James Orengo to join the gubernatorial race.

Mbadi opined that the governorship requires someone who has been in the struggle for reforms in the country.
