Sharon's Mother Breaks Down During Obado's Murder Case [VIDEO]

Melida Auma Otieno, the mother of slain university student, Sharon Otieno, was unable to keep calm during a court session where Justice Jesse Lesiit was ruling whether or not to recuse herself from the case, involving Migori Governor, Okoth Obado.

As the judge was speaking, Melinda started sobbing uncontrollably, drawing the attention of the court.

The weeping mother had to be escorted out of the court to be attended to.

The judge touched a raw nerve while reading documents filed by one of the accused.

"It is clear from the content in the statement of Barack Oduor (Nation journalist who had been abducted), that there is no evidence that I lured Sharon Beryl Otieno as deposed by the investigating officer.

"The deposition that I lured the deceased is a figment of his imagination," the judge read.

The cameraman then shifted focus from Justice Lesiit, to show Sharon's mother struggling to pull herself together, before breaking down in tears.

Friday's court session ended on a good note for the family of the deceased, when the judge refused to recuse herself from the trial.

Michael Oyamo, a personal assistant to Obado and Caspal Obiero, a clerk at the Migori County, had asked Justice Lesiit to recuse herself from hearing the case.

In their applications, Oyamo and Obiero stated that the Judge applied different standards when she released Obado on bail, but denied them their freedom because of security concerns.

The two got their freedom in December after the Court of Appeal reversed the decision denying them bail, but it was not until April this year that Obiero was released.

On his part, Obiero said despite not being mentioned anywhere in the statements, the court appeared to have made up its mind regarding the allegations, even before witnesses testified.
