Uhuru Defies Protocol for Sonko [VIDEO]

President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Saturday, broke protocol for Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

It dawned on the president that Sonko had not spoken while he was giving his speech at the Ushirika Day Celebrations held at the KICC.

Uhuru was forced to cut short his address to give the county boss a chance to speak.

The president explained that he did not want Sonko to think that he had overlooked him.

"Before I continue with my speech, you know every city has its owner so I don't want him to think I have forgotten about him.

"Let me allow Governor Sonko to say a few things and then we'll continue," he remarked.

Sonko thanked the president for granting him the rare privilege and vowed to take a short time.

"I do not want to give a long speech because once the president takes to the podium, no one else should speak," he stated.

Normally, the head of state is the last person to deliver his speech. No one is allowed to speak after him.
