Truth About Ruto's Photo Watching Haji Ordering Rotich's Arrest

On Monday, DPP Noordin Haji ordered the arrest of Treasury CS, Henry Rotich, over the Kimwarer and Arror dam scandals.

Also awaiting arrests are Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge, David Kimosop, the former  Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) Managing Director, EAC PS Susan Koech and Treasury Chief Economist, Kennedy Nyachiro among others.

Minutes after the news made it to the media, a picture made rounds on social sites purporting that Deputy President William Ruto was watching the presser live from his Karen residence.

Kenyans.co.ke has established that the photo was doctored, based on inconsistencies in some of its elements.

"The lighting on the TV screen is inconsistent with how a TV screen appears on a picture. There is no shadow and the lighting is also off," graphics designer Timothy Gichuru told this writer.

He further highlighted that the resolution of the TV was lower as compared to the rest of the picture.

"We should be able to read the lower thirds on the TV but this was not well done," he elucidated.

A quick search revealed that the original image was taken from K24 TV's social media platforms which showed the DP watching Auditor General Edward Ouko, moments before his interview on Punchline with Anne Kiguta.

The lower thirds feature in this picture is visible reading, "Queries over county pending bills."

The source of the photoshopped image, however, remains unknown.
